Clarification on study approach for the lab

Hi All

Good Morning !

I'm looking for clarification on study approach for the lab

We have books, cisco docs on the net, nuggets, vendor notes,etc...a wide
spectrum to choose for study.
I like to build knowledge the way that is comfortable for me, which in
turn will make me more confident & retain that post lab

A small case : EIGRP... Here's what i feel im supposed to know

How that protocol works
How to enable proto, advertise networks, summarise & redistribute
How to make one route prefer over the other, load balance, filter routes
What to look for when i run the protocol on different network types like
point to point, broadcast, point to multipoint, etc..
Verifying topology , neighbour & route tables..
Go ahead and practice...;-)

If i run thru Jeff Doyle vol1 for EIGRP, im not sure to what level i need
to know the following

Timers - My assumption : I just need to know the values for different
network types
Query: will i be reqd to know how to change default values for the purpose
of lab ?

k values - My assumption : I need to know the formula and that i can
change k values
Query : i read somewhere its always better to change delay than other k
values, will i be reqd to know to change other values ?

Feasible Distance - Should i know how to compute them manually ?

I understand any theoretical knowledge gained is worth every bit...for the
lab purpose...whats the expectation on level of understanding ?

Maybe there are areas that are good enough to know but need not spend much
time practicing for hours like timers, k values ??? Just wanted to ensure
that i dont dilute the focus on my end goal by working less imp areas more
& more imp areas less.

Maybe there are areas that im scared about/dont like it.... but if its
mandatory for the lab then it becomes my weak area & i have no option but
just study...

I know there are not many shortcuts, its abt hard work..atleast i can wipe
out my anxiety & fear by getting your valuable feedback & try to study
more efficiently for lab

Thanks
