Well couple of things - if you were to use a 2811 router then you can
install your DSPs right on the motherboard and install your VWICs
right in the VWIC slots built into the box off the shelf.
If you wish to save a little on the box and get a 2600xm - you will
need to install a NM-HDV or similar (spec it out using the dynamic
configuration tool on cisco.com) and put the VWIC-1MFT-T1's into it.
To answer your question of how many do you need - you will need 1 T1
or E1 port (not vwic) for each T1 or E1 port respectively, used in
each branch office.
So 1 T1 in the PSTN for HQ, 1 T1 on the PSTN for the BR1 T1, and 1
E1 on the PSTN for the BR2 E1 office - if you are wishing to match
the layout we use in all of our Voice Workbooks and lab scenarios.
Cheers,
Mark Snow
