If there is no rule/instruction that says NOT to do something, then you are
allowed to. If paranoid, it's always best to ask the proctor, but
over-configuration does not count against you.

Hi Scott,
Is it legal to configure our own link-local addresses in the actual lab if
it doesn't prohibit us from doing so?
Yes, configuring our self-defined link-local addresses will definitely
facilitate frame-relay mapping, ping, verification, troubleshooting, etc.
Thank you.

Adjacencies of IGPs are done with link-local addresses (debug ipv6 packet

The link-local's are defined. It's not a necessity, but when it comes to
typing all the map commands and/or pings and stuff, it's a hell of a lot
easier to type in FE80::1 than looking up/copying/pasting/typing the EUI-64
version of the automatic address.
So it's simply a time saver. Not required, just a choice.

Subject: IPV6 +link-local address
Hello all,
I'm doing ipexpert lab 11, advanced ipv6 routing.
It's about ospfv3 and mpbgp for ipv6.
I can see in answers of ipexpert, they use link-local addresses almost
everywhere, on all fastethernet and Serial interfaces, and in some cases I
really think it's not neccessary.
On fastethernet interfaces why don't they just make neighbor adjacencies
with normal unicast ipv6 addresses?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
