You'll probably have to add the 21% Belgian VAT on those $1400, for a total
of $1694 (ouch!). You had to when the lab was priced at $1250, which made
the $1512.50 price. At least if your company pays for it and is based in the
EU, I believe it can get the VAT amount back. But if that's out of your own
pocket, I feel the pain!

And about the price increase, granted, it's a little steep at 12%, but how
often does the price get increased? I read on a Cisco support page that the
pricing of their exams hadn't changed since 1999:

" How often does Cisco change exam prices?

Cisco changes exam prices only when warranted by program offerings and
market conditions. In most cases, the fees for exams covered by the
September 7, 2007 price change have not increased since 1999. "

12% every eight years is perfectly normal; most products' prices increase 1
to 2% per year. Ever heard of inflation? The written only took a 5% hit
since 1999, which is actually a bargain.

Correct me if the CCIE exams had been increased since 1999, as the Cisco
statement only covers "most" exams (which isn't exactly like "all" :).
