Re: OT: Dynamips crashes when...

saw the other posts .... just a couple things:

1) i found dynamips runs much
better and more stable in Ubuntu then windows ... i have a dual core with 2GB
of ram laptop that when in windows is slower and can run less routers then my
old pc running Ubuntu with a single Celeron P4 with 1Gb of ram ... and it
really flys after i install Ubuntu on my laptop.
2) are you certain you have
the correct idlepc values?
3) I would suggest checking the cisco feature
navigator and only running the code needed for your labs ... i.e. i ran 12.2
with 64M of ram per router when doing the easier labs ... then for IPv6 i went
to 12.3 with 96M ... then for QoS went to 12.4 ... but it was as needed.

Subject: OT: Dynamips crashes when...

Dear All,
Sorry for the OT, I couldn't access Dynamips/Dynagen forum site (
http://hacki.at/7200emu/) today.

I am running Dynamips/Dynagen on a Dell pc
with Intel Core 2 Duo
1.8GHZprocessor with 2GB RAM. I am using the new IE's
workbook for
Dynamips with
their initial config and topology. I have applied
idlepc value for all of
the routers in the topology (14 routers). In the
middle of configuration,
the CPU reaches 100% and one of the two dynamips
instances crashes and I
will have to start all over again. This mostly happens
when I do tasks like
IGP redistribution, bgp sesssion peering or etherchannel.
So I couldn't
finish even one full lab.

Please help!
