I do agree with that you are saying and I plan to do a lot more focused learning in the topics I am not 100% solid on. The labs are just there to keep me in that type of test taking mode.

well... I dont totally agree with that.
Dont get me wrong im a huge fan of IE and even intend to use them for my CCIE sp, but I think the problem may not necessarily be in the workbooks.
Maybe you need to check your understanding of the technologies and blueprint topics.
I blame myself for my 2 failed attempts because i underestimated the exam and thought I could get away with going through the workbook without really having a deep knowledge behind.
You can buy all the vendor's WB on the market, but without good understanding of the blueprint topics, I dont see the benefit of it.
