RE: Contract Position in Los Angeles area

I can imagine a CCIE in NYC pulling down $500,000 a year with a nice
SAN/VOICE practice. You would need to bill $250 an hour and have a full
calendar, great contacts, maybe an assistant to help you out...

They could even make a lot more, if they had a staff, and charged per
project. Companies here pay $300 to $350 an hour for implementations and
roll-outs. If you call any large software firm, and purchase installation,
that is the going rate for a "solutions architect" or "Solutions integration
specialist". I think Cisco, the backbone of their organization's IT
infrastructure is just as important.

What if you just rolled out "Greenfield" deployments of CCM, Unity, and
SAN's all year long?

You could make more than that...

Gents, do you know what "KVS" is (now owned by Veritas). Its $15,000 to
$60,000 for installation by partners and that takes 2 to 6 days.

Get crakin'

LOL!

Joe,

at least in CO and TX they can afford to have a nice house on that
money...lets start an off topic on this issue.. :)

No wonder so many California big city types have been showing up
here in CO!! With a CCNP/CCDP it's possible to earn a W2 hourly wage
within the range you're talking about below (definitely towards the
lower end of that range, but within that range nonetheless)...

I live in LA and the hourly rate for a CCIE for a long
term contract is
anywhere from 45 - 100 per hour. 100 per hour requires
lots of experiance.
