Good advice Subodh!
I would say get the IE WB RS VOL II. I nearly passed on my first attempt in
July, even though I could not sleep at all for two days before the exam. I
walked in there half dead with 2 red bulls in my hands. I got a rush of
excitement (even before I drank the red bulls), and got 65 points (after
calculating what each category was worth, vs. my percentages).
I hit the road to drive home, and by an hour on the road, I knew the 4 or 5
tasks I messed up that took the winning 15 points away! More importantly I
knew what a CCIE is required to do at the lab, to pass...
Your solution may be something so simple, like Subodh said, like "Service
Nagle". You may be missing a "next-hop-self" on an EBGP peer, where the
other routers in your ibgp cloud will not have a valid next hop.
I want to be honest, I DIDN'T even have the time to DO all 20 of the IE
WOORKBOOK VOL II. For my last attempt. I did about 10/20. More importantly
you have to think like a "CCIE" to pass this thing. I think you will agree.
Don't give up. Please don't give up. Forget the money. People spend tens
upon tens of thousands of dollars to get a worthless university education
only to come out and struggle to make ends meat, at a dead-end job, and
struggle to pay off student loans until they are 35. I'm not even 30 yet,
and I make a tremendous salary just consulting with a CCNP for my own
company.
Do you know the value of the CCIE?
Every time I blow off a date, or a friend to hit the workbooks in the lab, I
think of my future CCIE as a split personality that controls half my brain.
It has Darth Vader's voice and is shouting at me-
"WITH OUR COMBINED POWER WE CAN RULE THE GALAXY AS FATHER AND SON!"
LOL

Bad luck Joe.....
But don't give up......you will definitely succeed....I think no 9 is
going to be lucky for you.
What all study material u used for study...did u do all mock labs of IE
Expert or IP Expert. However, I want to tell you something here that
there are few areas apart from Switching/IGP and EGP where you can score
good but for that you will have to search a lot in the
internet.....because as fas as I know every body does good in
Switching/IGP and EGP but the area where they can earn more points they
do not focus..... Like one example I can give you; "service nagle". I
know this is not tough if you have gone through all workbooks but still
question asked by CCIE lab might twist the entire statement and
interestingly he might be asking for "service nagle" only.
So there are more as such things.....RMON is one of them.....you might
not be sure how to configure %age value of rising and falling thresh
hold (you might be confused with Delta/Abolute option).....there are
many more.....
My advice to you is that you should not only do all workbooks/mock labs
but also u need to explore internet heavily...
Good luck for next time
Subodh

Subject: Failed Again
I took my lab for the 8th time yesterday and I left feeling pretty good
about my attempt but when the score report came out it was a fail.
During the lab I was able to finish all configurations 3 hours early and
then checked and double checked all the requirements. I thought I nailed
Switching, IGP, and EGP but my scores were very low in the IGP section.
The proctors at the location where I took my lab were not that very
helpful. In fact one of them was downright terrible. I like to ask for
clarification on all items I am unsure about and every time I went to
this proctor to ask questions he would roll his eyes and let out a sigh.
It was almost as if I was bothering him to ask questions! By the end of
the day I would come to him with my two options to configure a certain
task and he would just tell me that I could do it both ways and not
loose points. Well I now believe that cost me at least a few points.
Overall I am not happy with the CCIE track and I think I am going to
throw in the towel because I can no longer afford to keep taking this
exam and failing.
