Is the question...what is the order of config for ether channel trunk
setup?
The answers I got from you guys was...order does not matter and the phy
int
should be twins for speed/duplex.

1. Do we need to put the below commands on both phy and port channel or
only
on port channel? or will the config from port-channel inherit to the
physical interface?

"The Port-Channel inherit these from the physical interfaces provided
they are all "synched" up together, I prefer using int range command to
synch them up."

sw port trunk encap dot1q
sw mode trunk

One of the book was showing the phy int have channel-group mode command
skipping the sw commands!!

"That will be because the int are already configured for those
switchport commands"

2. The interesting thing i found is that if there is only a single phy
int in port-channel , the changes you make at phy int level are "bubbled
up " to the port channel level !!
"Same for multiple interfaces"

3. the defaults for "switchport mode ..." command is different for
switch models / version numbers !!!

3550/12.1(22)EA2 - default is "dynamic desirable"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3550/software/relea
se/12.1_20_ea2/command/reference/cli2.html#wp2422818

3560/3750/12.2(37) - default is "dynamic auto"

Thanks!

Many Thanks
