I would like to take a stab at this.
The following network types are compatable.
Broadcast and Non-Broadcast.
Why, because they use a DR. (224.0.0.6, and 224.0.0.5)
The following network types are compatable.
ospf point-to-multipoint and point-to-multipiint non-broadcast.
The following network type is compatable
ospf point-to-multipoint with itself
Why, because they use only the 224.0.0.5 address for communication.
There is a third type Point-to-multipoint non-broadcast.
This is a unicast protocol so, setting the neighbor statement on either
side will enable the neighborhood. This protocol does not use DR, so
interface priority is not needed.
You use the neighbor command on two types of interface
non-broadcast and point-to-multipoint non-broadcast

Need to know when do we use ospf neighbor command.
1) When I have pt-to-pt sub interface on one end and pt-to-pt sub int
on other end
2) When I have multi sub int on one end and pt-to-pt sub int on other
end
3) When I have multi sub int on one end and multi sub int on other
end
4) When I have multi sub int on one end and physical int (encap
frame-rely) on other end
