Interface counters

Here is an easy question (I thought), but couldn't locate the answer to it
in the docCD... on the interface counters (show interface x/x)..what are the
maximum values, and, what happens when the maximum value is reached?

I am assuming that it would display asterisks (**), since it IS stated that
this is what happens to the max value of time.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one.
