I tried it with Dynamips, and the RIP routes are not replaced by the OSPF routes with the default settings.

Only when, a prefix is learnt independently by the two routing protocols, and if they are mutually redistributing with each other, we can tweak the AD to specify the routing protocol whether to consider their own learned route or the redistributed route.

in regards to what happens on the router doing redistribution itself.
