Hi All,
All the best for your preprations.
Today I took a mock lab in which I found a scenario on ODR.
The connections are as shown,
Vlan
16 ISL Trunk
(Vlan 16,17,88 )
R6 (Fa0/0) ---------------------------------- (Fa0/6) SW1 (Fa0/1)
--------------------------------------------------- (Fa0/0) R1
The requirements states that "Disable CDP protocol on the physical and
logical Fast Ethernet interfaces on R1 and R6"
This was asked in the Layer2 section. The connection between R1 and Sw1 is a
trunk and on R1 , interface fa0/0.16 is
configured to be in vlan 16.
Now later in the IGP section, the requirement is to run ODR between R1 and
R6. I could not get this working.
My understanding is that ODR requires CDP to be running between them.
To try out a solution, I enabled CDP on R1 and R6 interafces and configured
SW1 to tunnel cdp using the
command, "l2protocol-tunnel cdp" . With this commmand configured on
interafces Fa0/6 and fa0/1 on Sw1,
I could see that ,R1 is receving the ODR routes from R6 but R6 is not
receiving the default from R1.
Later I found out that , the command "l2protocol-tunnel" command cannot be
used on trunk interfaces.
Hence,R1 could see R6 as CDP neighbor but R6 could not see R1 as CDP
neighbor. Moreover, R1 is generating
the ODR default, but it is not received by R6.
Can anyone help me with this ,as to what is the possible solution
Regards
Shamin
