If a service provider runs PVST+ and we want to run MST

I am really worried that if a service provider
runs PVST+ and for the shared vlans they insist
to run as root while we want to run some vlans
locally rooted in our local switches and in MST.

That eventually puts our links towards service
provider
in inconsistent state. According to support documents.

We wouldn't have such problem if we ran PVST+.

I really want to know how to quickly determine if
some neighbor switch runs PVST+ or MST. We wouldn't
have such problem either if service provider runs
MST.
