Null0 is logical interface created on the router when you want the router to drop certain traffic ..you can forward that traffic to the null0 interface which means drop it .
for example , assume you have router with default route configured on it , however you want your router to forward the traffic comfing from certain interface (f0/0) only if the router has specific routes to the destination and not to use the default route ..you can configure policy based routing and set the default interface to be null0 and apply the PBR to f0/0 .
in this case the router will not use the default route if the destionation of the received packet is not specifically known to the router and drop those packets instead of forwarding them to the default .
Null0 is also used when you configure summary addresses with some routing protocols to point the major class subnet to null0
