Anantha,

I honestly don't believe that you can compare these two exams. The CCIE
far outweighs the value of the CCDP and they are very different. It is
like comparing a Masters degree in electrical engineering to an
Associates degree in psychology. No doubt - having both would be best
for your resume, but the Masters is the maker and breaker.

The CCDP is only 1 exam that really focuses exclusively on
design/architecture anyway - ARCH 642-871 (assuming that you have a CCDA
of course). I personally know many people who have studied a single
book over the course of a couple of weeks and have nailed this exam - so
I don't think that it is that big of a deal. Now, all of them that I
know of also hold CCNPs as well so perhaps this is the reason why CCDPs
generally make more money? Also, if you already hold a CCNP - why not
take the DP since it is only one more exam (2 assuming that you don't
have the CCDA)? I personally think the CCDP is just icing on top of the
cake. The core technologies make up the cake itself. Just don't make a
crappy cake with fancy icing. =)

If you're looking at adding a CCDP to a CCIE - you can't go wrong there,
although I think it's a mute point, but more certifications can never
hurt.

Just my 2 cents.
-Daniel

Subject: CCIE R & S vs CCDP

Hi All,

I'm aware of the value that CCIE carries and the difficulty level of the
exam.
I just wanted to know how much value does a CCDP carry ?

Does having a CCIE mean that you have CCDP capabilities or is there
something special or significant with CCDP that's not there with CCIE ?

Will there be any necessity to go for CCDP after completing CCIE ?

I need this from two perspective, one is satisfaction & other is career
weightage/value
