Hello GS!
I have three questions about Multicast, I really will appreciate if somebody
can clarify these concepts to me.
1.. If I am asked explicitly on the CCIE lab to use PIM sparse-mode. Can I
enable pim ip pim bidir-enable?. I am not sure if bidir is considered
contrary (or opposite) to pim sparse-mode or the question gives a window to
enable it if I want to.
2.. If I am trying to limit multicast traffic with "ip multicast rate-limit
in"am I a forced to enable pim under the interface I have the rate-limit even
if I don't have any pim neighbor on that interface just the source multicast.
3.. If on a task I am not allowed to enable pim-bidir and I was told to
configure pim sparse-mode for a specific list of interfaces, and on one of the
routers I have configured only on interface and this router is being affected
by RPF. Would be possibly considered as a correct solution If I enable pim
sparse-mode on a loopback interface (for example) that is being routed.
I am not asking if doing that will fix the problem, (in some scenarios can fix
it), my question is if it will be considered wrong since they previously gave
me a list of interface where I have to enable pim.
The other possible solution I see is adding a static mroute, but since static
routes are not allowed, I would prefer no to use a static mroute since it can
be considered as static route.
Thanks,
Ludovico Peluche
