Sounds like a RPF failure. Check your unicast routing table and make sure
the path
taken when pinging the igmp groups is the correct one.

From R4, do a show ip route for R3 Loopback interface. The path to that
destination
must have pim enabled interfaces, if it doesn't you get a RPF.
