Using your number for a partner cert implies dollars for them. Therefore it
should imply dollars for you.
You can always negotiate for this, although it's always better to negotiate
up front rather than after the fact, as this may leave a bitter taste in
their mouth.
However, business is business. With that in mind, don't take it personally
if they decide not to employ you.
But I'd certainly keep an open mind and have the conversation that their
paying for your exam was nice, and certainly helped you get the
certification which should help you do your job better. However, I'd tell
them that if they were expecting the number association and all of the
partner benefits that come from that, they should have asked you ahead of
time so that you could have negotiated appropriately for what that means to
you.
Right now, they paid $1,250 and have a better qualified employee to talk
about. For more money, they can get the number association that brings them
more direct financial benefit.
Good luck with it!

Subject: OT- regarding employer using CCIE number from partner cert
I recently got my number at RTP.
I have been preparing for my CCIE lab for 2 years. I joined my current
company several months ago and they only paid for the test fee.
Now they want to use my number for partner cert. They basically require me
to update my CCO account with my CCIE number which I haven't associated it
with my CCO yet.
I just want to know how to negotiate for a pay rate increase. Is there any
doc from CISCO specifies that CCIE number is belonging to me and I have the
right to refuse the usage from current employer?
I am not trying to keep my number from my employer, just feel that I should
at least get some awards for my hard work and all the cost during the past
two years.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thank you!
