Forgot to add:

What I have found is that it's easier when using an access server to
either connect the VPN concentrator via the access server's aux port
using a straight through Ethernet cable or by using a "rolled" DB9
adapter on the VPN concentrator. Since the access server's octal cable
is rolled, using a rolled DB9 adapter will make it straight through
connection.
