RE: Cisco Assessment Tool

After taking the Assessment tool and failing shortly thereafter, I tend
to agree it's a complete waste of money. I certainly wouldn't allocate
my cash this way if I had my time again.

The tool is extremely clunky, and not a particularly realistic
assessment. The only thing I found even remotely useful was to review
the marking scheme, if that is indeed close to the "real" lab. I took a
CheckiT lab which was a *LOT* more useful than the Cisco alternative.

Personally I think it is waste of money. The checking is all scripted
and not flexible at all and their customer service is horrible. You
will be better off to buy 30 labs from a vendor for about the same
amount of money.

True, it can tell you that you are nowhere close to passing (which you
can figure out by using one of the vendor's mock lab anyway). But it
can not tell you how close you are to passing.

Just my 2 cents...

Hi Folks,

I have heard good feedback about the Assessor lab, One thing it does
prepare one for is the format (e.g. the multiple diagrams etc)

Does anybody know how often they are being changed?

Thanks,

Jim

Mike I purchased a 4 hour session of the Cisco Assessment LAB back in
June before I failed my first Lab attempt in July 2006. I feel it was
helpful and it did help me focus and realize how unprepared I was.

The Assessment environment is different form the actual lab, the
assessment lab is a watered down 3 router 2 switch 4 hour version of the
actual exam.
It's a bit pricey but the questions on the assessment are what I think
are what added value to me as I did not know what to expect, it being my
first attempt.

The day I took my lab the proxy told us that the assessment lab
questions are written and created by the actual CCIE exam developers, so
I think that adds value to the assessment, as even the wording of the
exam question can be tricky. I have my second attempt in March 2007and I
plan to buy 2 session of the assessment exam next month. I will also use
the 8 hours mock labs from Internetworking Experts.

For what it's worth...
