Gabriel,
You could do what I'm trying...
1. Revisit topics using COD from the vendors with step
by step approach. I like the way that NMC has done
their Frame COD and InternetworkExpert is famous for
theirs. Even the CBT Nuggets, can be useful in this
regard.
2. Practice taking each subject one-by-one to ensure
you are not missing minute details that may be implied
in a given requirement. There are several products in
this venue, NLI's Soup to Nuts and Golden Labs are
nice here. Both NMC and IE have excellent "per
technology" labs that can help one master individual
topics better.
3. Go back and take the challenge labs like the
CheckIT Labs, the Mock Labs, the CCIE Accessor, etc.
4. If you have attended any special CCIE training, can
you re-sit a class? If so is it convenient with your
schedule? Consider this as well. Most vendors seem
to allow this.
Lots of variety - I'm prepping for my 3rd trip.
My analysis of my prep is honest:
1. I think my first score report reflected exactly
where the Mock Labs and CheckIT Labs, and even the
CCIE Accessor Labs placed my skill level.
2. My second trip was not much improved from the 1st
trip, except, I know I took the time to verify my
Golden Moment and it was good. I was much more calm,
even if I could not sleep the night before... My
battle plan was clearly drawn out, and I still lost
some points near the bottom of the OSI Model. But
with hindsight, I know why.
3. I expect to do profoundly better on my third
attempt due to a renewed spirit and confidence on what
to expect and how to cope with certain issues that
I'll likely see yet again - even if not exactly the
same, my more focused understanding and verification
techniques have improved greatly.
Just an FYI - I did not think that I would have that
much more to learn about Frame that I could use in the
lab, and once again, I am wrong. Tonight, I have been
through three segments from Netmasterclass's COD on
Frame and I am learning things I would have
overlooked.
Basically, if you run a show or debug command and you
cannot explain each bit of what you see, you may not
quite be where you want to be when you want to be
there.
Good job Bob Sinclair!
These COD's may take a bit of time to make, but they
are well worth it to people like me.
