A bit of details.
It was my 5th attempt on R&S Lab.
My life with Cisco, in a nutshell :-)
18-08-2001 - CCNA
03-12-2001 - CCNP
24-11-2003 - CCIE R&S Written Exam
15-11-2004 - CCNP recertification
19-05-2005 - Lab Failure 1
11-01-2006 - Lab Failure 2
28-02-2006 - Lab Failure 3 (it was very close)
03-04-2006 - Lab Failure 4 (same close)
21-11-2006 - Lab Passed
As you see, had I got a failure this time I would have had to re-take
the written exam. :-)
First attempt I was far cry from understanding things, then it got
better but still not good enough, last two times I failed only due to my
"phenomenal" distraction. like putting FCE in link-local IPv6 instead of
FEC on the third one...
Taking IE MOC lab I scored 55 two weeks before this exam. I missed 23
points because of distraction. (and another 12 because of wrong scoring,
the rest was my bad). Thanks IE team and Brians et al for their great
job! So, last two weeks I was working on my attention to tasks
implementation.
About the exam itself: without breaking NDA, I can safely say that with
introducing more than 2 switches one can logically expect a heavier L2
section in terms of access/distribution/core interaction, modern STP
implementations etc. I think it will be covered in all workbooks soon,
IE sample lab proves that. And that is it. One shouldn't be scared out
by that. You are all good to go, not a major change. :-)
About Brussels Lab facilities and proctors. As you may safely guess, I
know it pretty well. :-) They recently upgraded stuff to better PCs at
work places, very nice. Proctors are friendly and help with clarifying
questions, no probs here. I was probably the most asker last time. :-)
Just to make sure I understand things right and feel more confident
during the Lab. But Brussels is no-go for me for a while, too many
visits. :-)
And finally THANKS. Thanks to Brians, Scott, Brad, Narbik, Andrew Bruce
and other gurus for contributing their time and efforts to this SG. Your
participation here is just priceless.
Thanks to Petr, Victor and many others (you know your names, guys) for
the inspiration and help with word and did.
Thanks to all SG readers for reading my posts, sometime off the
track.:-) Concerned of correct answers I always tried to check before
posting. And this approach helped me a lot to learn stuff I was talking
about.
I firmly believe you are ALL gonna make it, sooner or later.
Just believe in yourself (different from being opinionated :-) )
