IP Address Range - Class D and E

Hi there

I'm finding different info as to which range of IPs is Class D and E.

Here are the 2 diffenret sets of info on the net:

1) Class D - 224-239
Class E - 240-255

2) Class D - 224-247
Class E - 248-255

Which one is correct? Based on the first octect definition, Item 1 seems
right, but then why they mention item 2 on the net?

Also, is there such thing as Public and Private IPs in Class D (or E)?
