This occured to me last night and I am looking for a little verification.
This is for BPDU filter and guard.
Sometimes we are asked to apply BPDU filter or guard on all ports or all
access ports, or all non trunked ports. There are two ways to apply this.
Globally and per interface. The difference is important. Globally will
only apply the command to portfast enabled ports. Per interface will apply
the command on the interface regardless of the portfast state.
Here is why this is important. Here is an example task:
1) skip listening and learning on f0/8
2) configure BPDU filtering on all non trunkeed ports
If you applied the BPDU filter globally here, it would only be applied to
f0/8. Because some ports have portfast enabled and others do not. I believe
you would have to enable BPDU per interface to meet the requirement of #2.
What do you all think?
