I am confusing now with autorp in pim sparse mde environment. Theory state
that in sparse mode environment you need to have RP. Fair enough. I have
setup this to test it out and is proven RP is need.
However, in order for autoRP to work (224.0.0.39 and 224.0.0.40) dense-mode
must be facilitate the two group to work. I found that even all link in
sparse-mode and withut ip pim autorp listener, I am able to ping the
muilticast group from one end to another few hops away. I am confusing now.
Some one could help me to understand this.
R1 ----- sparse mode ----- R2 ----- sparse mode ----- R3
R1: able to ping 224.3.3.1
R2: RP candidate and mapping agent
R3: ip igmp join-group 224.3.3.1
