Sabrina -

That should be enough to configure it. However, it is probably best to
change the max and min advertisement interval so you can get the
advertisement to send out quicker than the default which is fairly long.
One other point, you probably want to advertise a preference....an
interface preference for your router, or, and ip address (if running
HSRP/VRRP/GLBP)....

 - ip irdp preference <preference number>
 - ip irdp ip address x.x.x.x <preference number>

According to the documentation, the lower number is more preferred.
However, when using this with some IOS routers....this is reversed for
some odd reason.

Subject: IRDP

Hi,
I'm trying to learn how to configure IRDP.
According to Cisco documentation I only need to cfg :

 ip irdp

 in interface cfg mode.
Is that enough? Do I need to configure any of the following?

holdtime how long a receiver should believe the information
   maxadvertinterval maximum time between advertisements
   minadvertinterval minimum time between advertisements
