Something people seem to miss in their study is the above, as well as:
- Route filtering, redistribution, summarization and other advanced IGP
features
- Other advanced PIX features
- advanced IP/IOS features
- Advanced AAA features
- Advanced VPN features
- Advanced IOS firewall features
- Other advanced features
- Advanced IDS features
When I sat the lab, the bits which blindsided me fell into the above
categories and without the availability of documentation I may have
failed. These fairly open-ended statements mean they can throw in
pretty-much anything. You need to remember this is an expert level
qualification, and hence they're testing expert level knowledge of the
equipment and software, not just the ability to do canned scenarios.
So, you might see IGP pre-configured, but you might have to know all about
how it works to make it fit a strange VPN/GRE/HSRP/ACL topology, and you
have to know how to tweak it to make it do what you want.
What this meant to me was I read all the IOS and 3550 manuals relevant to
the version in the lab, plus all the stand-alone manuals for features such
as QoS. Then when I saw something I was completely not expecting I could
remember "I don't know how to do this, but I know I saw it in the
documentation" and could then dig up where it was.
