Hi Shanky,
That's my understanding as well, ip igmp join-group the router will process
and respond to ICMP request to the group and when you configure using ip
igmp static-group the router won't process it
and will pass directly the requests to the source of the multicast group
using fast switch process.
So since the question advises you to configure and not allow SW1 to process
switch the traffic and
also says that that the application he is using will not be generating IGMP
join messages so for testing purposes I think the only way is to configure
for the router to respond to ICMP requests is using "ip igmp join-group" but
the solution says otherwise.
