Hi Petr,

The origin of this feature is not related to multipoint interfaces, as you
can see that one cannot apply identical IP addresses to ethernet multipoint
interfaces.

I believe the origin is inherited behavior from interface types or
encapsulations that could be used with SONET APS. In that scheme an
identically configured interface takes over if a filure occurs.
