John, I would guess that most hotels near RTP probably have Internet access,
which would be much quieter than McDonalds. ;-)
I stayed at the Wingate (I think) on both of my trips and it has Internet
access although I think I had to pay something like $10 for 24-hours access.
It was worth it to me anyway.
