2500 Flash Upgrade

I was looking at purchasing cheap 2500's on ebay and then upgrading the
flash to 16 meg.

Can someone please answer the following:

1. Do you need to install two 8 meg flash chips to get 16 meg or can you
install just one 16 meg flash?

2. If I were to purchase a 2500 with 8 meg flash would that 8 meg normally
be a single 8 meg flash or two 4 meg flash? In the latter case I would be
unable to use either for an upgrade to 16.

And finally, do you have to upgrade the bios chip to upgrade the flash?
