BSR does not require dense component of PIM operation mode to work
whereas Auto-RP does (sparse-dense-mode). So if you have "no static RP
and PIM sparse mode only" this should turn you towards BSR.
BSR works with PIMv2 only but this is not a Cisco proprietary.
