JC,
You do not NEED a workbook to prepare for your lab. Those are just another
tool you may or may not need.
Each individual has their own unique needs when it comes to sudy material
and study habits.
I studied with just the doc CD and passed on my first attempt. Of course, I
studied every single day from 5 to 10 hours per day for about 9 months.
You need to figure out what works for you.
I would suggest starting with the blueprint. Learn each of the
technologies, not just how to type them into the router. If you truly
understand the technologies, configuring them will be the easy part. After
you have completed going through the blueprint and feel you have a pretty
good handle on it, I would maybe suggest an assessment lab of some kind.
There are many vendors that provide the assesment labs. Depending on your
comfort level after the assessment, go for the lab or go back to the books
and brush up. Keep in mind if you decide to take an assessment lab, just
because you blow it away, that does not mean you will blow away the actual
lab. The assessment labs are more just to get you prepared for the lab
format and time crunch.
Good luck in your quest. Don't ever give up.

You gotta have a lab work book for which you have many options of vendors,
like Internetworkexpert, NMC, ipexpert, trinetnt. I personally like
Internetwork expert work book and their video bootcamp is excellent.
Timing wise, the more time you spend the better.
