It may be one of the RAM modules or flash.
Try booting via TFTP to prove the flash is ok, and, perhaps try booting a
base image which doesn't reference extended areas of the RAM i.e. isn't so
heavy on RAM usage.
If the base image loads, try swapping RAM chips out.
Do you have any modules in the router which may be suspect ?,

Hey guys, anyone got any ideas on possible solutions to this problem - the
3640 in my lab has died. Looks like some sort of hardware thing but I've no
