Hi Jim,
Yes it is, we do not have any pending changes to the Security lab exam
and this email was not generated by the CCIE Program.
Thanks,

Tim
Could not agree with you any more on those products and the benefits to
knowing them. I know I do fine by these products but it would be close
to impossible to test these products on CCIE lab and still have it as a
valid lab test environment, I think thats the point both myself and
Simon were trying to make.
And as for the original post YES WE ALL KNOW IT WAS A HOAX, YES WE ALL
SPOTTED THE DATE AND YES HOW WE ALL CHUCKLED AFTERWARDS. Well I did
anyway as my lab dates May 11th. Sorry to shout but I must have seen 15
emails saying check the date, not on the Official Cisco website, it BS
isnt it?
etc etc and its now becoming a little tiresome. Bah Humbug back to
studying

Guys,
I don't know if this news is real or not. But, I do know that knowing
those products is a good career move.
NAC and CS-MARS are very hot products and for those out there doing
consulting, having the skills to design and deploy these products will
place you on a very small list.
Of course, each person's situation is somewhat unique and each will have
to decide what effort to devote to staying current.
Just my 2 cents.

This is not real. It would be listed on this page:
http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/announcements/index.html
Until it is there I don't believe it.

Sergej,
Actually, I'm not surprised. As you know, Cisco has been beefing up
it's portfolio of security products for a while and considers Security
and VOIP the new paths for future revenue and earnings growth. By adding
these new technologies to the ccie requirements, Cisco is also greatly
increasing its salesforce for these new products.
I wouldn't be surprised if, in a few months, Cisco makes another
announcement which adds NAC to the list of technologies Security CCIE's
have
to master.
Like all changes to the lab requirements, this is a double edge sword.
On the one hand, your work load just went up. But, on the other hand,
the value of your knowledge increased in lockstep with your new
workload.
So, if you're real close to being sufficiently prepared for the lab,
then just hunker down and take the lab before May 31st.
If you're not close enough to do that, start downloading the Config
Guide for CS-Mars and the other new products and get to work. Or, check
out the training that's available to get you up to speed faster.

Did anyone else receive such a surprising e-mail from CCIE team?
