   Nick, from what I heard those who passed the lab, KISS ruled : do not make it harder on yourself. You need to able to see that the two you asked are totally different : loop protections is necessary while redundancy is NOT ( unless the lab told you so ! ).
   Search the archive for redistribute and Caslow you will find a lot of details on howto approach and what techniques.
