Vivek,
DR election is done per multicaccess link. So you should see one DR per
interface, and that is what I see in your output. If you arrange the output
with the original line breaks and spacing you should see that the "2" in the
first line indicates the number of PIM neighbors on that link. You can have
many neighbors on a link, but just on DR. The DR for the link is indicated by
the IP address at the end of each line. By default the PIM DR is the router
on the link with the highest IP address.

Subject: Multicase Dr election in PIM-Sparse mode
Hi, When i give the command sh ip pim interface , it displays more than
one DR . And i checked on Jeff Doyle it states if one has configured pim
sparse mode i should see one DR. Address
Interface Ver/ Nbr Query DR DR
Mode Count Intvl Prior
132.1.0.1 Serial0/1 v2/S 2 30 1
132.1.0.3
132.1.17.1 FastEthernet0/0 v2/S 1 30 1
132.1.17.7 Also in IE WBV3 lab2 , if i do not enable the pim sparse mode
on the hdlc link i cannot make the VLAn 6 to ping the 228.28.28.28 even
thought the mroute is configured on the R3. I can ping RP and i can reach
the switch ip 132.1.17.0 from vlan6. thanks Vivek
