Hi, Venkatesh
Thanks for your reply.
But since this is a router-on-a-stick scenario, it is impossible to set your
ip address on this subif without appropriate "encapsulation dot1Q" command.
See the following
Rack1R6(config)#int e0/0.26
Rack1R6(config-subif)#no encapsulation dot1Q (after issuing this command
you will lose the ip address on this subif)
Rack1R6#sh run int e0/0.26
Building configuration...
Current configuration : 32 bytes
!
interface Ethernet0/0.26
end
Rack1R6(config-subif)#ip addr 26.0.0.6 255.0.0.0
% Configuring IP routing on a LAN subinterface is only allowed if that
subinterface is already configured as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q,
or ISL vLAN.
Regards,
Lin

vlan problem?
Remove encapsulation dot1q command from the subinterafce on the router and
try. provided you are using the native vlan on the switch to communicate,
Let me know if it works.
Thanks,
Venkatesh
