Hi,
The "frame-relay interface-dlci" is used in point to point connections where you will have only one dlci per interface, a hub router in a hub and spoke topology.
On the other hand the "frame-relay map" is used in the hub or spoke router where you have one or more frame relay peers.
The Frame relay arp sends all the frame relay mappings to an interface with encapsulation frame relay configured, which can cause alot of unwanted mapping when you do a "show frame-relay map", to disable this feature issue a "no frame-relay inverse-arp" or a "no arp frame-relay"
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1831/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080087d01.html?bcsi_scan_C35049D46A90A985=0&bcsi_scan_filename=products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080087d01.html#wp1001012
Use Frame-relay map when.
1) You are asked to use static mapping.
2) You are asked not to use dynamic mapping which also means use static only.
Use Frame-Relay interface dlci when.
1) You are specifically told to use it, or when told not to use the "frame-relay map" command.
2) You can also be told to use one dlci per interface, this could be some sort of an indication, at this point you might want to ask the proctor.
In all cases disable frame-relay inverse arp, if you are not going to use a dlci, you shouldnt have it in your frame relay map table.
Good luck.
Saad.

Hi, I have some comments.
The "frame-relay interface-dlci" statement do dynamic L2 to L3 mappings and uses
inverse-arp.
The "frame-relay map" statement statically maps L2 to L3 and disables
inverse-arp automatically.

) Hi there,
) Just a few more comments.
) no frame relay inverse-arp and no arp frame-relay give you
) the same result of not getting dynamic frame relay mapping from
) the FR switch, so you can specify static mapping manually using
) the " frame relay map " or the frame relay
) interface-dlci
) So if a question says do not use dynamic mapping, or use
) static mapping, or use the specified mappings, that means you
) need to disable the frame relay up using either of the two
) commands above. The best is to use the no frame relay inverse-
) arp command.
) Hope that clarifies it more.
) Best regards,
) Saad.
