There are a lot of questions to ask yourself and the provider, assuming your
network is of a fair size, say 20 sites or more. For a handful of sites the
issues are fairly small. Here are a few to think about.
How are you going to handle multicast
How does the provider QoS map to your QoS marking
How is the provider going to retain routing metrics across the VPN
What management reporting can they give you
If you want to read a book about it, I co-authored one called Selecting MPLS
VPN services published by Cisco Press on exactly this topic. It was bsaed
off the experience gained migrating the Cisco internal WAN from frame and
ATM to a provider provisioned MPLS VPN.
