Q in Q VLAN Tagging

This may seem to be a little off the list topic, but I've not been able to
find some solutions to my problem. The division I'm in is a small service
provider mostly retail industry. We have 2 geographically dispersed data
center and we want to use a single VLAN to support customers who have
multiple VLAN's just as if they were connected directly. However, our data
center is not connected directly. The only connection is through the
internet. I looked at Q-in-Q Tag Termination which support PPPoE, however,
in my understanding, transit path should be able to bridge the traffic.
Since our only p-t-p connection is over GRE/VPN, I don't know of other means
to tunnel ethernet between the 2 locations just as if they were connected
directly.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Tony
