When configuring voice vlans on the Catalyst 3550 switch, you are presented
with the following options:

Rack1SW2(config-if)#switchport voice vlan ?
  <1-4094> Vlan for voice traffic
  dot1p Priority tagged on PVID
none Don't tell telephone about voice vlan
  untagged Untagged on PVID

I am confused as to what the dot1p setting does. Does it tell the IP phone
to send frames with 802.1q tagging?

How does the dot1p setting compare to setting a vlan number?

When setting the voice vlan to a number (say 10 for example) is that vlan 10
number specified with a 802.1q tagged frame?

Please explain.

Thanks in advance!
