ospf metric-type1 or 2type

 When redistributing any external source into ospf - i prefer using type-1
because of the cumulative cost. Is this generally best practice?, or what
situations would lean me towards electing to go for type-2 ?

another qtn. When redistributing eigrp into opsf, does ospf look at
something other than the RT for eigrp networks?
