CCIE R&S Assessor Lab

I participated in the beta testing a week before the Assessor lab was
released to the public. I had a lot of trouble (and lost a lot of time)
trying to use the web portal through Opera and Firefox. When I attempted to
connect through Internet Explorer, the java enabled portal crashed numerous
times, because I didn't use the right version of IE and Java. There was
nothing in the instructions that warned about this. More instructions about
what to expect and browser requirements would have saved me time.

Another problem is that I could not cut and paste easily. I had to use the
Java enabled notepad, which did not allow me to cut and paste between
routers. I had to open a separate notepad for each router. More time lost.

Hopefully, this issue has been resolved.

Despite the clunkiness of the portal, the content made the experience
worthwhile. I had taken the real lab once before and the content was as
challenging as my lab had been. The questions had similar wording.

My score was immediately provided after I completed the lab within the
four-hour window. Results were emailed to me and I had plenty of time to
review them. The grading portion also gave some insight into what the
proctors see and what how the grading application works. The grading
portion also provided explanations and links to Cisco's documentation. It
gave me a better idea of the "Cisco way" of answering a question.

Would I consider purchasing an Assessor lab? Yes, but I would wait until
the product is a little more polished.
