Hi Bruce,
I work for a Service Provider, most of the items in the blueprint are
what I see everyday, I'm quite used to them, so I actually found the
exam a little bit easier than the R&S.. But the main thing IMHO is
that the amount of things u have to study for the R&S is _huge_, for
the SP is a bit less, but in much much more detail.
I think for u to be prepared for the SP LAB, thinks like BGPv4,
anything from a simple peering to the most complex confederation or
route manipulation.., MP-BGP, QoS, everything that has to do with a
Service Provider, has to be second nature... u can't think about how
am I going to configure this or that.. u decide what's the best
solution, or the one the exam is asking for, once that part is done,
the configuration should be like driving... u don't think before
changing gears, do u ? unless u drive an automatic :)) after the core
part is done, u have time think about the rest of the LAB
what I really struggle with was the multicast part, I'm not going to
lie to u guys... me and multicast were never good friends, we had
problems on the R&S LAB, and it was not different for the SP, I found
it a little hard to find good material to study SP Multicast stuff.
Now, the preparation part, I basically used MPLS and VPN
architectures I and II, which are excellent, used the Traffic
Engineering one..can't remember its name, I bought Definitive MPLS
Network Designs, but didn't spend much time with it, but it looks very
good....about _a_ LAB workbook.. there isn't any workbook for the SP
out there that's even remotely close to the IE R&S quality, so I had
to improvise.. I ended up making up some of my own labs, and I'm
really thinking about putting together a workbook of my own :))
now it's security time !!! but I'll rest a couple of days before I
start on that path ;)
