CCIEin2006 & Suzan,
IMHO, people should look beyond the SP track name. Many large
Enterprises have been deploying L3/L2 VPNs for years now. The Network
teams within these large Enterprises become SPs to their departments.
Some even bill back service usages to them. Regardless of how a
technology is labeled for marketing purposes, as Engineers we should
never limit its usage when designing solutions to solve business
problems. MPLS and TE aside, the remaining technologies found in the
SP lab are common within Enterprises of any size Routing, QoS, HA,
Network Management, and Multicast.
