Here is one for you...I understand that a layer 3 device will always
pick the more specific match when routing to an object independent of it
being static/connected/EIGRP/OSPF whatever, but for a PIX device we had
the following scenario laid out in the route table (no we are not
running a routing protocol):
route inside 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 172.26.2.254 1
route inside 192.168.243.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.2.254 1
route inside 192.168.245.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.2.254 1
In this case, if a packet is destined for 192.168.243.0 or
192.168.245.0 will it take their more specific routes laid out in the
PIX or will it take the more general route above since it is first in
the list order?
