I'm going against the grain here.
I think this is a great idea and long overdue from Cisco. The majority
of us here know the value of taking a mock lab before the real event.
The only reason I found InternetworkExpert and others, was because of
this forum, which I found one day whilst searching on google for help in
studying for my ccie.
I found that the training offerings from Cisco were quite poor in the
actual practical section. I work for a gold partner and have used the
PEC several times and found it to be very good and often wondered why
there was not a more intricate ccie test on there.
I my opinion, a mock exam is a must offering and I'm sure the chaps from
the different vendors here will vouch for the profitability and value to
the student of such a product.
I don't think that this will downgrade the quality of the lab exam, it
will give people the opportunity to realise what as ass kicking is dealt
out in the lab, and this will only be a 4 hour affair, not the full 8 hr
marathon. Also with the publication by cisco that mock lab exams exist,
I'm sure there will be more google hits on other sites offering similar
products.
As a final note, I expect to see people posting on the site in months to
come saying that they nailed the 4 hr cisco mock exam, but failed
miserably in the actual lab !!
