Changing DNS to point to a different ip does not quite work the way most think it does because providers like AOL,Tiscali etc ignore your ttl and cache your "old" DNS entry. We have seen this many many times when we used to flip sites and for weeks people will still be hitting the site we flipped away from !
Do you own your own address space ?
